iRacing – Il laser scanning di Spa è cominciato

Qualche giorno fa, il team di iRacing ha sorpreso tutti i sim racers europei annunciando l’aggiunta di Spa Francorchamps alla lineup di piste che fanno parte della loro simulazione online.
Quando l’annuncio ufficiale sembrava dire che il processo di laser-scanning della pista sarebbe cominciato in una settimana, i ragazzi di iRacing sembra siano già in anticipo sulla tabella di marcia. Le foto scattate lungo la pista dimostrano la velocità a cui i lavori procedono, mostrando il team alle prese con la raccolta dati per il seguente processo di modellazione. Nessuna data di rilascio è stata precisata, e con tante altre piste in lavorazione, con molta probabilità i drivers online dovranno attendere almeno fino al 2011 per mettere le loro mani sulla Spa di iRacing.

Il circuito di Spa-Francorchamps è il più antico e famoso tracciato automobilistico del Belgio. Situato nelle vicinanze di Francorchamps, una cittadina della municipalità di Stavelot ai confini con la municipalità di Spa, nelle Ardenne. Il circuito è sede del Gran Premio del Belgio di Formula 1, la cui prima edizione si svolse nel 1924, e inoltre della 24 Ore di Spa e di altre gare del calendario internazionale.

iRacing – iSpeed Data Software rilasciato

Pete Ness ha rilasciato un interessante software chiamato iSpeed, che permette a tutti gli iRacers di poter vedere i dati dettagliati sulla corsa come velocità, giri motore, posizione, distacchi, tempo ecc. su di uno schermo separato.

Se avete iRacing e uno schermo inutilizzato… ora sapete che farne!

Il software è studiato per funzionare su un secondo schermo, ma funziona anche sullo stesso schermo se si corre in “windowed mode”. Seguite il link per ulteriori informazioni!

iRacing scontato per un anno!

Justin Wilson ci illustra, in questa intervista, il suo punto di vista sulle simulazioni e le corse online.

Il noto pilota brittannico impegnato nella Indycar è uno dei tanti piloti di alto livello che utilizzano iRacing per allenarsi e imparare i nuovi circuiti cui devono prendere parte.
E sembra che funzioni piuttosto bene, ci permettiamo di aggiungere, visto che poco tempo dopo questa intervista è andato a cogliere una netta vittoria a Watkins Glen.

iRacing a “caccia” di piste europee

Le ultime news per quanto riguarda l’iRacing di Kaemmer, riguardo l’aggiunta di alcune piste eropee (confermata Zandvoort, in attesa di Brands Hatch e Oulton Park), non sembrano fermarsi qui.

Il team di sviluppo infatti, è in Europa per portare a termine alcune licenze con altre piste europee.

E’ chiaro quindi l’interesse dello staff di iRacing di rendere questa simulazione veramente “globale”, e quale modo migliore che far sentire i piloti del vecchio continente “a casa” nei loro circuiti?

Good Morning:

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I just thought I would take a minute to highlight a few points in regard to our track selection process since when reading this forum I sometimes get the impression that members think we are simply “just” picking tracks. Well I guess they are right, we are just “picking” tracks. We have a diverse group that meets and “picks” the tracks. In fact we have already picked dozens of international tracks but that is the easy part. The hard part is to license those tracks and essentially become partners with each track and the owners of the track. Unlike some of the other sims past and present, we officially license every piece of content in iRacing. We have dozens of negotiations going on currently with tracks from around the world. Sometimes we can get a contract done in three months and other times it can take three years or it might never get done for one reason or another. The international tracks can be more difficult to get a deal done. For example there are language barriers, different legal methodologies and many of the tracks are publicly owned or owned by large corporations which slows the process down. Obviously the tracks also want to know what is in it for them and typically asking for $$$. Anyway, although we have a priority list and wish we could follow it to the letter, because of the reality of getting the contracts done, we are not really rolling out the tracks in a perfect set “priority”. We typically are going after dozens of tracks at any given time that are on our wish list. When the contract gets done they get put into the line to get produced. Sometimes tracks get bumped ahead of others in line based on perceived demand from you our members.

As we speak, Steve Myers and Divi are in Europe meeting face to face with a a couple different content owners and going through the negotiation process. Even John Henry gets involved from time to time and is in fact involved in one international negotiation currently.

Anyway, I am sort of stating the obvious here but thought I would send a quick note anyway. Also if you get a chance, support the tracks in iRacing, they are truly partners with us and taking the time to do these deals with us in part for the exposure and support of this community.
